Multi-tenant buildings need careful design
In the CBD, most security work happens inside buildings with several stakeholders: a building owner or body corporate, a property or facilities manager, and tenants who each want control of their own space. The base building usually runs the main entries, lifts and car park, while tenants add their own systems on their floors. Getting those systems to cooperate is most of the job.
Common CBD projects
- Tenant fit-outs: access control for a new office floor that works with the base-building cards, so staff carry one credential.
- Apartment intercom upgrades: replacing failing analogue intercoms with video systems that residents answer on their phones.
- Car park and lobby CCTV: cameras for entries, lifts and car parks, set up with privacy and body corporate rules in mind.
- Lift access: restricting floors by credential after hours.
Working in occupied buildings
CBD installs usually happen in live buildings, with loading dock bookings, after-hours work, building manager sign-off and tenant notifications. We plan around building rules, keep disruption to a minimum and document everything for the building's records.
Apartment buildings and body corporates
For unit-title buildings, decisions about common property security usually go to the body corporate committee. We provide clear, staged proposals that make it easy for a committee to compare options and approve the spend.
