What an access control system does for you
Keys get copied, lost and never come back when someone leaves. An electronic access control system gives each person a credential (a card, fob, PIN or phone) and lets you decide which doors they can open and when. If a card goes missing, you cancel it instead of rekeying the building, and you get an event log showing who went where.
- Staff, contractor and visitor credentials with time schedules
- Doors, gates, roller doors, lifts and car park barriers
- Event logs and reports for incidents and audits
- Lockdown and remote unlock for events, deliveries and out-of-hours callouts
- Integration with intruder alarms, CCTV and intercoms
What we install
Readers and credentials
Proximity cards and fobs, PIN keypads, and mobile credentials where the platform supports it. We will talk through which credential technology suits your risk, because older low-security card formats are easy to clone.
Door hardware
The lock is often the most important decision. Electric strikes, electric mortice locks and electromagnetic locks each suit different doors. Glass, aluminium, timber and fire-rated doors all have their own requirements, and we specify hardware to match the door, the way people use it and how it has to behave in a fire.
Controllers, power and cabling
Door controllers, battery-backed power supplies and structured cabling, installed neatly with labelled cables and documented so the next technician can find their way around.
Software
On-premise or cloud-managed software, depending on how many sites you run, who needs to administer it and your IT team's preferences.

Where it fits
Warehouses and logistics: separate dock, office and high-value storage areas, with roller doors and gates on schedules. Offices: after-hours access, meeting suites and comms rooms. Schools: staff-only areas, lockdown capability and fewer master keys in circulation. Multi-tenant buildings: each tenant manages their own floor while the building manager keeps control of common areas.
What affects the price
Access control is quoted per site, because the cost depends on the number of doors, the door and lock types, cabling distances and building construction, the software and licensing model, and what it needs to integrate with. Our guide How much does access control cost for an Auckland business? walks through each factor so you can budget sensibly before a site visit.
Upgrading an older system
If you have a system that is out of support, or cards that can be cloned, an upgrade does not always mean starting again. Existing cabling, door hardware and sometimes controllers can be reused. We will assess what you have and give you options.
